Carnivale of Couture: Your best bargain
Yayayay! My first-ever Carnivale of Couture! I'm so excited.

This week's Carnivale is hosted by The Bargain Queen, who asks:

What is your best-ever bargain? Where did you find it, how much was it and why is it your favourite?

A tough question, because I have several that stick out in my mind.

My favorite pair of shoes, for example, is a pair of black London Underground ankle boots, which I found on sale for $10 somewhere around Belmont and Clark.

There is also my navy-and-white A-line skirt with a chunky chainlink pattern. It cost me $1.20. I don't even remember where I got it, because when I bought it I was still in college and too thin to even wear it. Now that I'm fat, it's one of my favorite pieces of clothing. Normally I hate navy, but this skirt is an exception to my rules.

There was another skirt that cost about the same that I used to wear often, but of course, I got too fat for it! Le sigh. It was an orange, brown, magenta, and white striped corduroy, cut on the bias so it formed an upside down V-shape in front and back. I loved that skirt to death. (I think it's becoming clear that I like odd color combinations.)

I also found a really neat blue and white vintage dress at a thrift shop moving sale for $1. It had a floral print and pin tucks across the bust area, and a high waist (which on me is a natural waist because I am really short), and it became a really cute tunic top that I don't wear often because I kinda f'ed up the hem and am too lazy to fix it.

And then I got a black Jansport backpack, in perfect condition, for 90 cents at the Salvation Army. Not the most fashionable thing in the world, but you can't beat the value.

Hmm...all this talk of wonderful thrift-store finds is making me want to go shopping again!
